(From Clark Funeral Home)Elvis Franklin Hency, age 86, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away at 3:02 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021. He was born April 20, 1935, in Gateway, Arkansas, the son of the late Henry Franklin “Frank” and Ireta G. (Roller) Hency.
Elvis graduated from Diamond High School and, shortly after graduation, was drafted into the Army. During his tour, he was stationed in Germany, and he proudly earned the Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge, and the Certificate of Merit Award.
On April 6, 1968, he married Evelyn Ruth Holden in Flagler, Colorado. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2015.
Elvis owned and operated Hency’s Used Cars, worked as a truck driver for Wilcox Truckline for over 40 years and was a farmer, ranching cattle, goats, and sheep. He was a member of the Diamond Methodist Church and attended the Diamond First Baptist Church. Elvis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Frank Hency and his wife, Shelly, of Joplin, and Christopher Hency of Diamond; one sister, Faye Wallace of Diamond; two grandchildren, Alyssa Smith and Matthias Hency; two great-grandchildren, Wilow and Maverick Smith; and his beloved dog, Shorty.
In addition to his parents and wife, his infant daughter, Tamara LeAnn Hency, and sister, Fern James, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri, with his son Frank Hency and Pastor David Pizinger officiating. Burial will follow at Diamond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, in the funeral home. In memory of Elvis, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
