Carolyn Prather

(From Nichols-Stephens Funeral Home)

Carolyn A. Prather, age 73, of Grove, Ok, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Integris Hospital.

Carolyn was born on May 23, 1948, one of 8 children born to Leo and Avis (Sparlin) Conduff in Wyandotte, OK, where she grew up and attended high school.

On May 15, 1965, she married Johnny Lee Prather in Columbus, KS and the couple made their home in Grove, where they became farmers, cattle producers, and pecan growers owning Prather Pecan Farm.

Carolyn worked as a Bus Driver for Grove Public Schools for 15 years, and she enjoyed transporting her grandchildren to and from their many activities. She later worked at Walmart also.

Carolyn attended Bible Baptist Church for many years, assisting in the Awana Children’s classes and wherever she could. She was a funny, loving and devoted mother and grandmother, with a bit of a stubborn streak, that loved reading and shopping on QVC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Johnny Prather in 2005 and brothers: Norman, Rex and Kenny Conduff.

Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory, daughters, Sue Bennett and husband, Zane, and LeaAnn Chandler and husband, Bryce, all of Grove, sisters: Janet Curtis (Sam), Helen Skaggs and Arlene Easley, all of Seneca, MO, and Diane Miller (Mickey) of Afton, OK, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2-4pm Sunday, November 21 at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 2pm Monday, November 22, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Guy Morrow and Pastor Bill Hayward to officiate. Burial to follow at Olympus Cemetery.
