Cheryl Williams

Cheryl Yvonne (Buffalo) Williams, age 74 of Galena, KS, passed away at 5:56 PM on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO.

Cheryl was born on May 29, 1947 to Arthur Robinson Buffalo and Pauline (Clarkson) Buffalo. She graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1966 and attended Sixth Street Baptist Church throughout her youth.










Cheryl was a lifetime resident of Galena. She has worked as a waitress at High Winds Café in Galena and the Townsmen Café in Miami, as a cook at Halls Food Mart in Galena, and as a hotel attendant at High Winds Casino and Downstream Casino and Resort. She enjoyed working through crossword puzzle books, attending tribal meetings, and thoroughly enjoyed her work.

She is survived by one son, Kevin Williams (wife, Teresa) of Neosho, MO; two daughters, Kelly Duncan (husband Brian) of Galena, and Kimberly Tate of the home; one brother, Lloyd Buffalo (wife, LuAnn) of Quapaw, OK; four sisters, Dorothy Cantrell (husband, Harry) of Galena, Beverly Jones of Riverton, Pat Weaver (husband, Mike) of Baxter Springs, KS, and Bobbie Mitchell (husband, Jerry) of Lowell, KS; as well as 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pauline; two brothers, Robin and David Arthur; and two sisters, Terry and Maggie; three half siblings, Roy Buffalo, Paul Buffalo, and Lorene Bear; and one granddaughter Sabrae Yvonne Pierce.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Quapaw Tribal Longhouse, 5681 S 630 Rd, Quapaw, OK 74363. Pastor Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Traditional Quapaw Indian Rites will be followed.

Visitation will take place form 6-7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, also at the Quapaw Tribal Longhouse.
