Richard Gordon

Richard Eugene Gordon, Age 73 passed away at 7:03 pm, Sunday, November 14, 2021 at his home following an illness.

Richard was born April 16, 1948 in Independence, MO. His parents were Roscoe Gordon and Opal (Houston) Gordon.








He has lived in Joplin since 1990, moving from San Diego, CA. He served in the US Navy retiring after 22 years of service as Chief Petty Officer. In Joplin, he worked as the Lieutenant at the Joplin City Jail and Jasper Products.

Richard was a member of the Earl J Bruton VFW Post 534 in Joplin. He had earlier been a member of the Fleet Reserve 289 in San Diego. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and going to the casino. He attended James River Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife Sheree of 44 years.

Additional survivors include 5 children, Lucas Gordon, Joplin, Shane Nickerson (Francine), Jay, OK, Stacy Daniels (Marshall), Pittsville, MD,, Angie Dildy, Virginia Beach, VA, and Tammy Bradshaw (Ashley Simpson), Suffix, VA; his mother, Opal Gordon, Kansas City, MO; his sister, Sue Brockmeyer, Webb City, MO; 12 grandchildren Kierah Gordon, Karma Gordon, Marshall Nickerson, Mason Nickerson, Eyan Nickerson, Tara Nickerson, Bryant Gordon, Javon Gordon, Brittany Gordon, Richard Keith, Robert Gordon, and several great-grandchildren.

Richard was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. No services are planned.
