(From Clark Funeral Home)Gary Allen VanWinkle, age 59, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at 5:22 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 21, 1962, in Chanute, Kansas, to the late Oscar and Peggy (Byers) VanWinkle.
Gary lived in Newton County his entire life and was a member of the Abundant Life Church. He was a 1981 graduate of Neosho High School, attended Crowder College, and graduated from Draughon’s Business School in 1983, with a Business Degree.
On June 4, 1983, he married Melinda Christine Bridges at Big Spring Park in Neosho.
Gary worked for La-Z-Boy as a machinist in the wood room and later as a Shipping Specialist retiring in 2020, after 36 years of service. He loved to ride his motorcycle, go four-wheeling, especially in the mountains, his men’s Colorado trips, music, genealogy, visiting with people, and most of all, spending time with his family. Gary was known to work hard and play hard.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Melinda; three sons, Nathan VanWinkle and his wife, Kelisa, Josh VanWinkle and his wife, Candace, Brice Van Winkle and his wife, Lynette; one brother, Phillip Van Winkle and his fiancé, Janice; five grandchildren, Jeremiah, Faith, and Grace Sprinkles, and Madelyn and Ezekiel VanWinkle; and one brother-in-law, Chris Brown, all of Neosho.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Brenda Brown, preceded him in death.
