Ada White

Mrs. Ada Lea White, 87, of Noel, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness.

Ada entered this life on February 8, 1930, in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, born to the late James Albert and Mary Marie (Andrews) Wells. She was raised and attended school in Sulphur Springs. On January 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harry Leslie White and to this union four children were born. In the late 1940’s she and Harry moved their family from Sulphur Springs to a farm in Noel, Missouri. Besides helping her husband with daily activities on the farm, Ada also worked for over twenty years at Shiloh Bakery in Sulphur Springs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and was an avid reader. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty years, Harry White on March 28, 1997; a daughter, Carolyn Welch; a sister, Junie Cantrell; and four brothers, Don, Bill, John and Jimmy Wells.

Ada is survived by her three children, Mamie Latty of Anderson, Missouri, Linda Jarvis of Bentonville, Arkansas and Kenneth White and wife, Sheri, of Noel, Missouri; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Dean Wells of Goodman, Missouri and Pudgy Wells of Sulphur Springs; a sister, Thelma Hobbs of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.


Funeral services for Mrs. White are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017, in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Jerry Seigel officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Justin Jarvis, Donald Brackney, Jr., Cody Latty, Pat Somerville, Sammy Skaggs and Eric Lemonds.
