Larry “Boss” Cassatt, age 74, Oronogo, Missouri, passed away on Sunday February 26,2017at Freeman West after a sudden illness.
Larry was born October 2, 1942 in Lamar, Missouri, son of the late Gilbert and Maud Vacca Cassatt. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1960, and then attended Pittsburg State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology, and also did graduate studies.
He was an avid carpenter, woodworker, and gardener.
He was a school bus driver as well as the Building Trades Instructor for Carl Junction High School, and built a house each year for the school district from 1987 to 2005 when he retired.
He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church for over 50 years.
He was the current President of the local Gideons International and the Public Water District #2.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Bradford, Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nana Sheppard Cassatt; son, Joey Cassatt and wife Hilary and two grandsons Jesse and Joshua of Carl Junction.
Daughter, Shannah Cassatt (Bill Choate) and three granddaughters Tannah, Lannah, and Zannah and a grandson Dannah of Webb City.
Son, James Green of Oronogo.
Brother Gary Cassatt and wife Mary of Wichita, Kansas; sisters Jewel Vonier of Joplin, Dixie Peterson and husband Bob of Fort Scott, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Webb City with Rev. Bob Simon officiating with interment following.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church or Gideons International.
