Donna Crocker

(From Knell Mortuary)

Donna Anne Pfenninger Crocker, 89, Carthage, entered Heaven February 11, 2017 at St. Luke's Nursing Home, surrounded by family members telling wonderful stories of her life. She was born March 6, 1927, in Carthage, MO, to Albert Rudolph Pfenninger and Della Marie (Baucom) Pfenninger.

Donna was born and raised in Carthage, in a house constructed of Carthage stone, built by her grandfather, John Rudolph Pfenninger. Her grandfather, as well as her father, were stone masons, and John Rudolph helped build the Jasper County Courthouse.

She graduated from Carthage Senior High School and was president of her senior class in 1945.

She married her high school sweetheart, James Leroy Crocker, on August 29, 1947 after he returned from his eighteen month duty in the Army Air Corp. They were married 54 years. He preceded her death on October 18, 2001.

She was a faithful member of all of the Baptist churches she attended in Carthage, Raytown, and Springfield, MO. She looked forward to being reunited in Heaven with so many loved ones. We are encouraged to know that reunion is happening now.

Donna was a model employee wherever she worked; a mentor and friend to all. But where she was truly in her element was in her home, raising 6 children, who still adore her. She was a wonderful hostess and cook, sharing her table with many. Everyone gravitated to the kitchen to report what was going on in their lives. She is a model of forgiveness and unconditional love.

Donna worked in the civil engineering industry from 1964 through 1996, retiring after 32 years. She worked for Deac Glenn in the Jasper County Engineer's office from 1964-1968.

Donna is survived by her children: Mary (Rick) Shewmake of Overland Park, Kansas, Jim
(Jeanie) Crocker of Carthage, Sue (Jim) Hess of Carthage, David (Debbie) Crocker of Joplin, Nancy Frasier of Camdenton, MO, Dan (Michaelle) Crocker of Poteau, OK, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Patsy (Pfenninger) Hendrickson and husband Dick Hendrickson, of St. Charles, MO.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, from 2 to 3pm at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. An inurnment committal service will be held Monday, March 6, at 10am at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, south of Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Carthage Crisis Center, in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut Street, Carthage, MO 64836. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
