Wayne Allen “Winnie” Wilson, age 57, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away Monday evening, February 13, 2017, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Wayne was born November 29, 1959 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, one of the four children of George and Josephine (Wright) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Barry Wilson; and a sister, Betty Wilson.
As a young child, Winnie moved with his family to Missouri and graduated from Stockton High School in 1977. He was employed at O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar for many years before going to work for Schreiber Foods in Carthage in 2005. His free time was spent with family, his close friends in the Brotherhood of Bikers, and his dog, Patches. Winnie created great family memories with meals prepared on the grill or smoker, and time shared watching good old-time western movies.
On June 30, 1998, at Estes Park, Colorado, Wayne married the love of his life, Janice, and she survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, Joshua Davis, Carthage; two daughters, Annie (T.J.) States, Wichita, Kansas and Megan (Andy) VanGilder, Lamar; 11 grandchildren, Brynn and Olivia Fanning and Megan Wilson of the home, Sage, Jonny, and Braiden Davis, Elijah Kerr, Rylee VanGilder, Jackson and Saylor States, and Alli Davis; a brother, Mike (Tammy) Wilson, Jerico Springs; and a nephew, Jonathan (Sarah) Wilson.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18th at Paradise Cemetery near Jasper, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.
