June Stastny Jaros passed away in her sleep the morning of February 9, 2017.
She was born the daughter of Bessie (Brezina) and John Stastny and sister to John Stastny on December 19, 1925. She tragically lost her mother at age 3 after which her loving environment suffered changes including extended stays with relatives and separations from her brother, John. As a teen, she found the Catholic Church and attended Lourdes H.S. and St. Xavier College where she experienced a new level of love and support leading to self confidence and many friends. When the U.S. entered WWII, June discontinued classes to work in an airplane factory. Never short of suitors, she corresponded overseas with a number of service men, but was particularly drawn to young Frank Jaros who swept her off her feet on returning from the war. They were married on June 21, 1947 and before long their family grew with 3 children. June and Frank, later saddened by the loss of two RH babies, were filled with joy when a son was born and survived. They provided their children with unconditional love and attention, affording them the advantages of their own personal guidance and a Catholic Education.
June’s adulthood was graced with creativity. She loved to sew, bake, cook, oil paint, teach and learn, especially science related facts. Classical music and opera were her favorites and she could often be heard singing in her operatic voice. In addition to being a wife and parent June wore many hats, serving as Girl Scout Leader, Cub Den Mother, part time Avon Lady, Welcome Wagon Hostess and World Book Encyclopedia Representative.
June believed in the goodness of people and was not afraid to reach out and make friends with those she had never met and might never see again.
June suffered the loss of her husband Frank in January, 2013. Among those who love and will miss her most are her children, Mark, Rory, Anne and Chris and their families.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father J. Friedel officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
