Curtis Carter

(From Knell Mortuary)

Curtis Rex Carter Jr., 81; born July 31, 1935, son of C. Rex Carter Sr. and Ruth Key Carter, (both of Carthage) passed away in Arizona surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 13, 2017. Curt was a graduate of Carthage High School, where he was proud to be a part of the ROTC program. Curt went on to study at Rice University and earned his degree in Engineering at the University of Missouri. During his time at Mizzou he also became part of the Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity.

After graduation, Curt worked at Rocketdyne in Mo. and eventually opened up his own business in San Diego selling electronic organs and later pianos as well. During his lifetime he lived in Carthage, Mo.; Dallas, Tx; San Diego, Ca.; Palmetto, Fl; and Anthem, Az.

Curt had 4 children, Vicki (& Chris) Herring; Tracey Carter (deceased); Carrie Carter; & Nick Carter. 5 grandchildren, Michael (& Dana) Herring; Katie Herring; and Matthew Herring; & Christina Escoto; and Dylan Escoto; and 1 great-grandson, Samuel Carter Herring. Curt also leaves behind his sister Connie Carter, and her 3 sons, their wives and children.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Rev. James Lee will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
