Don Landrith, age 84, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Spring River Christian Village.
Don was born November 27, 1932 in Independence, Kansas, son of the late Ralph Landrith and Ella Denison Landrith. Don graduated from Tulsa Central High School, and then earned a Master's Degree from Pittsburg State University, and began teaching and coaching at Lockwood from 1958 throughout 1961. He then moved to Stockton, and was a coach and teacher there until 1964. He worked as a salesman for Moore Business Forms before beginning Landon Business Forms, which he later named Joplin Business Forms. He ran this company until selling the company to Peregrine Corporation where he continued to work as a consultant and salesman.
Don was active with the City of Joplin, and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for years, was a former city councilman from 2002 to 2006, and served on the Building Board of Appeals for many years, and enjoyed being part of the Joplin Sentinels.
Don is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Donna Kitts Landrith; sons, Marcus Landrith and wife Ruth of Cassville, Missouri, Steven Landrith; daughter, Kathy Long and husband Terry of Coffeyville, Kansas; stepchildren, Deborah Emerick and Kimberly Russell both of Joplin, Dallas Owen of Springfield, and Melissa Unrein and husband Patrick of Topeka, Kansas; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, near Stella, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
