1941-2017
11th February 2017, Monte Clair Mitchell from Joplin Missouri, surrounded by family in his hospital room, peacefully and without pain ascended to heaven. Upon returning home to be with the Lord, he was reunited with his mother Margaret Alta Mitchell, his Father Enos Sylvester Mitchell, his brothers Robert Enos Mitchell Sr. Bennie Frank Mitchell Sr. and his youngest son, Timothy Scott Mitchell.
Monte was a graduate of Joplin High School, married Lydia Catherine Martin in 1962, earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1964. During his nearly 40-year career, he lived in St. Louis where he and Lydia raised their two sons before the family relocated to Modesto California. When Monte retired, he returned to the Joplin area where he lived in Webb City until his death.
Monte was survived by his ex-wife, Lydia Catherine Mitchell, oldest son Martin Christopher Mitchell, his grandson (by Timothy Scott Mitchell) Timothy David Mitchell and his two great grandchildren Cody David Mitchell and Connor Talbert Mitchell.
There will not be services for Monte. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, well-wishers should donate to the Children’s Miracle Network.
