Donald Raymond Hern, 83, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. John’s Mercy in Joplin. Donald was born October 8, 1933 in Bear Creek Lodge, California to Bert and Janice “Cruickshank” Hern.
He resided in Carthage for most of his life and was employed by Leggett & Platt as a truck driver for 52 years.
Donald was united in marriage to Joyce Steely March 22, 1985 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas; she survives.
Donald is survived by one son, Tommy Jones and wife Katherine of Carthage; one daughter, Lisa Robinson and husband Charlie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandsons: Aaron Hoos of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Taylor Jones of Carthage and David Bruton and wife Komola of Barndsall, Oklahoma; four granddaughters: Kahlie Jones of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kate West and husband Rafe of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sayra Bryant and husband Chance of Barndsall, Oklahoma and Deidra Alberty and husband Bucky of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nine great-granchildren: Michael, Rafe, Brooke, Anna, Chandler, Logan, McKenna, Andrew and Yasmina.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Hern.
A private family service will be planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
