Harold L. Jacobs, age 82, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Mercy Hospital Joplin. Harold was born March 21, 1934 in Carthage, Mo. and had lived in the Joplin-Carthage area most of his life. Harold was the Owner/Broker of Jacobs and Associates, a Real Estate Brokerage Co. He also was an Appraiser for H.U.D.
Prior to his Real Estate career he worked with the Atlas Chemical Co. Harold was a graduate of Carthage High School, and graduated from M.S.S.U. with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. While attending Mo. State University he was a member of the Tennis Team. He loved golfing, fishing, and billiards. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joplin for 53 years where he was an active participant in the Partakers class. He was a member of the Joplin Elk’s Lodge.
Harold married Marilyn Downey November 9, 1963 in Millard, Nebraska and she survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Michael Jacobs and wife Becky, Joplin, and Matthew Jacobs and wife Heather, Breckinridge, Co., four grandchildren; Grace, Ally, Lilly and Tessa
Jacobs, a nephew, John Jason and wife Linda, and three nieces. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin F. and Montella Jacobs, and two sisters, Helen Jason, and Dolores Underwood.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Howard officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to the First United Methodist Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Croy, Mercy Cancer Center, and the Nursing Staff of the Oncology Unit for their special care of Harold. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
