Billie Rowe

Billie T. Rowe, age 90, Joplin, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home.

Billie was born December 2, 1926 in Jasper County, Missouri to the late Earl Rowe and Myrtle Stricker Rowe.

He worked at the former Junge Bakery and for Safeway in Joplin before moving to Tulsa in 1962. He was a route man for Wonder Bread and Hostess Cakes in Tulsa for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. Billie returned to Joplin in 1998.

Billie was a Mason in the Delta Lodge, Scottish Rite, Associate Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters; VFW #534, and also served as commander for three years; American Legion Post #322, Webb City and Club 44. He was an avid bowler and bowled in all fifty states and Canada. Billie was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy from 1944-46 and in the Naval Reserves from 1946-1954.

He married Carolyn Vanover on August 31, 2000 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include his children, Sharon Rowe, Oklahoma City, OK, Frank and Cindy Rowe, Okesa, OK, Kelly and Scott Baehler, William and Mary Jo Rowe, both of Sand Springs, OK, Rosalee and Mike Seagraves, Broken Arrow, OK; step children, Bob and Linda Vanover, Joplin, Allan and Nichol Vanover, Chino Hills, CA, Debbie and Rick Ascheri, Fullerton, CA; grandchildren, Tamblyn Manley, Christopher Rowe, Daniel Rowe, Brandy Magby, Eli Rowe, Ronald Klein, April Nelson, Keri Klein, Timothy Baehler, Adrienne Dameron, Joshua Baehler, Haley Boggs, Megan Benge, Michael Jestice, Katlin Seagraves, Jonathan Seagraves, Richard Weilbacher, Jeremy Vanover, Jeff Vanover, Robert Vanover Jr., Sarah Vanover, Madison Vanover, Kenneth Asheri and Kevin Asheri; plus 33 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Billie was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Rowe; a daughter, Sallyanne Rowe; a son, Rick Rowe; a grandson, Jonas Geltz; two sisters, Katherine Anglen and Ruth West; one brother, Eugene Rowe.

Services are planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Randy Steele will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
