While at home on February 3rd, 2017, Loyal Lee Berryhill passed through the gates of heaven to meet his Lord and Savior.
Loyal was born on October 26, 1926 to N.L. Berryhill and Lois (Williams) Berryhill. He married Velma May Smith on February 26, 1949. Living on a farm north of Jasper, they raised three children, Elene Fitchpatrick, Ann Powell, and Carl Berryhill. Ann preceded her father in death on December 22, 2016.
Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years; one daughter, Elene Fitchpatrick; one son, Carl, and his wife Debbie Berryhill; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Berryhill, one sister Reba Ball, and a son-in-law, Walter Powell. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother; two sisters and a son-in-law, Ben Fitchpatrick.
Loyal was a lifelong farmer, a World War II veteran; a Deacon of Jasper First Baptist Church for over 50 years, a road grader for the Northfork Township for over 50 years, a third-generation treasurer for the Waters Cemetery Association, a 20-year member of AWANA. He was also a founding member of Jasper Area Ambulance Service, serving 21 years and a member of Jasper VFW post #6415. Loyal and Velma were faithful to visit anyone they knew that was in the hospital.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Jasper First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Waters Cemetery.
The family will receive friend 6;00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Jasper First Baptist Church.
Contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church or Waters Cemetery in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
