Mildred Marie "Myrt" Dickten, age 87, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin
Myrt was born March 22, 1929 in Baxter Springs, Kansas, daughter of the late Charles McDaniel and Cora B. Nooney McDaniel. She attended Riverton High School, and married Ernest Dickten on December 10, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They traveled the world following Ernie's job. She was a stay at home mom, and loved to travel. In addition to her parents, Myrt was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ernie Dickten on October 23, 1999, brothers, Don and Harold McDaniel, and her son-in-law, Jake Jacobs.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean Dickten and Cora L. Jacobs both of Joplin; grandson, Brandin Phillips of Ojai, California; great-grandchildren, Tallulah Phillips and Indiana Phillips.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Inurnment of her and Arnie's ashes will be in Quaker Valley Cemetery, Riverton, Kansas at a later date.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Humane Society.
