Guida Inez Lowery, 91, of Joplin, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility.
Guida was born on April 2, 1925 in Bokoshe, OK to the union of Ernest and Polly (Derryberry) Brown. She was united in marriage to Richard “Junior” Lowery on July 19, 1969 in Baxter Springs, KS. Guida worked at King Louie Manufacturing in Baxter Springs for 30 years, retiring in 1963. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Baxter Springs and then attended The First Assembly of God Church in Grove, OK, when they moved to the lake. She was always active in the woman’s group at church. She was a longtime member of the Baxter Miner’s Camping Club. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts and spending time with her family.
Guida is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Emanuel Brown, and Jim Brown; one grandson, William Gideon.
Guida is survived by one daughter, Debbie Batson and husband Joe of Quapaw, OK; two step-daughters, Sheila Bentlage and husband Dr. Charles Bentlage of Joplin, MO; and Wanda Lowery of Bentonville, AR; one step-son, John Lowery and wife Sue of Fairland, OK; one brother, Larry D. Brown and wife Phyllis of Grove, OK; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Aaron Zustiak will officiate. Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:15 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service are Coty Allen, Remington Taylor, Shan Weston, John Lowery, Larry Brown, Dennis Frisbee.
