Hank Marsh

(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)

Longtime Seneca resident Hank Williams Marsh passed away peacefully at his home on February 13th, 2017. He was surrounded, as always, by friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on March 5th, 2017 at 2pm at Racine Christian Church.

Hank was born August 26th, 1954 in Natchez, Mississippi to Elton Robbie and Daisy Mae Marsh (Berry) of Vidalia, Louisiana. The 7th of 10 children, Hank was raised by extended family and friends throughout Louisiana and Texas after the death of his mother at an early age. Hank valued hard work and began working for a living in his early teens. He roofed houses, walked the high steel as an iron worker in Houston and even spent some time as a deck hand on a towboat on the Mississippi River.

In the late 1970’s Hank bought his first big rig and began what would become a nearly four decade career hauling freight all across the highways of America. As an owner/operator, “Hard Times” was renowned for his safety record and delivering on time as he logged more than 2 million miles, driving for several different companies until his retirement in 2015. He was named “Driver of the Year” for Sitton Motor Lines in 2007.

Hank moved to Seneca in the 1980’s and started a family, cherishing his role as a father raising his son Austin. He was a well-known supporter at Seneca sporting events during those years, his booming voice and easy manner making him a favorite of kids and adults alike. Hank met Susan Phariss in the mid 1990’s, and the two married in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 21st, 1997. Hank and Susan built a life together on their property west of Seneca, working the land and enjoying friends and family. Hank especially enjoyed spending time with his in-laws, Harley and Wanda, and relished his role as “Hanky-Bo” to his seven grandkids.

Hank was known to gather a crowd as he told a raucous joke or story. He was just as quick to lend a helping hand as he was to break out in song. He celebrated life daily, and expressed his love for friends and family deeply. Most importantly, Hank found loved ones wherever he went and throughout his life. He showed the love of Jesus and provided brotherhood or a father figure to any who needed it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three of his siblings, Jackie Marsh, Lloyd Marsh and Yvonne Lively.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Susan Marsh; his children, Austin (Mandy) Lehr, Sydel (Craig) Stevens, Noah Johnson and Micah Johnson; his siblings, Leon (Annette) Marsh, Barbara Lou (Glynnis) McLarrin, Willie Joe (Roxanne) Marsh, Patti LaVerne (Roger) Jones, Bridgett (Rick) Carter and Cookie James; and his grandchildren, Rylee, Regan, Reese, Rowan, Rhett, Silas and Wyatt.

The family kindly requests a donation to your church or favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Arrangements made by Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.
