Morris Leroy Rouse, age 78, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home.
Morris was born October 29, 1938 in Joplin, son of the late Jack S. Rouse and Dorothy Mae Lytle Rouse. He graduated from Joplin High School, and in 1958 began his career in HVAC, founding Rouse Heating and Air which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2007, at which time his son, Matt Rouse, has continued with the development of the company as the owner.
Morris was an active member at Forest Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed woodworking, especially working with clocks, and was also a member of the American Woodworking Association, the Clock Workers Association, and was a longtime member of the Joplin Pistol and Rifle Club.
He is survived by his wife, whom he has been with for 60 years, Nancy Wolsey Rouse; son, Matt Rouse and wife Julie of Joplin; daughter, Kelly Rouse Riesenmy of Joplin; grandchildren, Rhiannon Riesenmy, Tiernon Riesenmy, and Alyson Rouse; brothers, Charles Rouse and wife Mardell of Joplin, David Rouse and wife Jeanne of Grandville, Ohio; sister Anita Schuessler of Dallas, Texas; eight nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. John Swadley officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Forest Park Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus.
