Janet Severs

Janet Susan Severs, age 74, Joplin, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Freeman West Hospital.

Janet was born July 6, 1946 in Monett, Missouri, daughter of the late Homer R. Counts and Meda E. Boillot Counts. She graduated from Joplin High School, and then Joplin Junior College. 

 She worked as a secretary for several companies, most of her career was as a secretary/office manager with Interstate Transportation Equipment Company (ITEC). She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Gene E. Severs, who passed away in 1996; and two infant grandsons.

Survivors include her children, Susan Phillips and husband Robert. Michelle Tichenor and husband David, and Gene Severs, II. all of Joplin; grandchildren, Timothy J. Beck, Cheyenna L. Beck, September Stephens, Brittany Grant, Madison Hylton, and James Tichenor; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Timothy Counts of Joplin.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with a private graveside service at Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery next to her parents at a later date.
