RIchard Sloan

Richard Joe Sloan, 64, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Monday afternoon, January 11, 2021 at his home with family by his side. 

Richard was born August 12, 1956 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Richard Vernon Sloan and Esta Jo (Hall) Sloan. He was a 1973 graduate of Glendale High School, Springfield, Missouri. 

He was a veteran, proudly serving his country as an Avionics Technician in the United States Marine Corps. Rick worked as an engineer for the railroad, working for Frisco, Burlington Northern, and Missouri & Northern Arkansas railroads. 








Rick married Denise Allen Yarbrough on January 1, 2001 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He loved mechanical work and had ASE certification, being especially talented in small engine repair and electrical work. He loved helping friends repair their lawnmowers, cars, or anything they needed help with. He always enjoyed the opportunity for a challenge when it came to repairs.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Sloan; a son, Allen Yarbrough, Carthage; a daughter, Jennie Peralta (Jon), San Diego, California; a granddaughter, Audrey Peralta; his stepfather, Millard Altis; a brother, Dan Altis; seven sisters, Sheri Nelson, Shirlee Plum, Sharon Miller, Brenda Allison, Candy Clemmons, Cindy Huffam, and Dana Pratt; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Vernon Sloan and Esta Jo Altis, and a brother, Randy Sloan.
