Chuck Matthews

Charles Eugene “Chuck” Matthews, age 59, Joplin, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Freeman West.

Chuck was born December 31, 1962 in Wetumka, Oklahoma, son of the late William Franklin Matthews and Imogene (Hunter) Matthews. He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Eufaula High School and worked as an over the road truck driver for Tri-State Trucking, and R & R Trucking of Joplin. He was very proud of his Cherokee Indian Heritage. He loved the years spent traveling the country with his wife at his side working as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.








In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Olson.

Survivors include his wife, Diana D. Cunningham Matthews of the home; sons, James Olson and wife Diane of Spokane, Washington, Jason Matthews and wife Penny of Conway, Arkansas; grandchildren, Cyril Rolston, Aurora Olson both of Spokane, James Matthews, Elanor Matthews, and Emma Matthews all of Conway; great-grandchildren, Freya Rolston and Dimitri Rolston of Spokane; sisters, Marilyn Greene, Marvena Belcher. Carol Cowan and husband Ronnie all of Oklahoma; brothers, Wayne Matthews, Leslie Matthews, and Billy Matthews; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

His ashes will be taken for burial in Eufaula with his parents.
