John Badgley

(From Parker Mortuary)

John Tyson Badgley Jr., age 76, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Joplin Health and Rehab surrounded by family.

John was born January 2, 1945, in Joplin, Missouri, to the late union of John Tyson Badgley Sr. and Audrey (Moser) Badgley. He graduated from Colton High School in California and shortly after he joined the United States Air Force.

He fought in the Vietnam War and after he returned to the states, he began preaching the gospel. The first service he pastored was in Tomato, Arkansas, where he met the love of his life, Beverly Hopper. In 1967, he married Beverly in Blytheville, Arkansas.

Together they had two amazing children, Tania and Timothy Badgley. They shared 54 beloved years together before John’s passing. He was a member of the Joplin Full Gospel Church.

John’s passion was serving the Lord and he loved ministering the word of God to everyone. He enjoyed street ministering and visiting hospitals and jails to speak the word of God. He pastored at churches in Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. John was also extremely talented and could play just about any instrument he picked up. He wrote several songs and played piano. When the church needed a back up singer for Sunday services he would always be right there to help out.

In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lee Badgley; and two sisters, Karen Badgley and Annette Mathes.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Badgley of the home; daughter, Tania Badgley of Joplin; brother, J.L. Badgley of Joplin; sister, Cynthia Badgley of Carl Junction; along with a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Joplin Full Gospel Church. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Josh Patrick officiating.
