Ronald McGlochien

Ronald Dean McGlochien, age 85, Nevada, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas.

Ronald was born May 27, 1936 in Joplin, son of the late Charles McGlochien and Mabel Rhoda (Long) McGlochien. He grew up in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School in the class of 1955. 










He went to work for Dan Stanley Ford in Joplin where he worked in the Parts Department from 1955 until 1969. He moved to Nevada after that to work for the Ford Dealership there where he continued in the Parts Department working his way up to General Manager of the dealership. He was still working for them at the time of his death. 

He was a Navy Veteran and served at the Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba during the Cold War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who also enjoyed spending time with his 1955 Classmates. He was a long-time member of the Tanglefooter, and was a leader of the Vernon County 4-H Drill Team. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy (Cooley) McGlochien; sister, Kitty Moore of Joplin; daughters, Mickey Oetken and husband Jeff of Willis, Texas, Tammey Ward of Nevada, and Melissa Gay McGlochien of Nevada; grandchildren, Todd Murray and wife Michelle of Nevada, Tiffany Brooke Moreland and husband Thomas of Conroe, Texas, Whitney Oetken of Omaha, Nebraska, Nathan Dean Pettibon and wife Tiffany of Kansas City, Kansas, and Onyx Yasuhara of Joplin; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alan McCamey officiating.

  1. The time of the funeral is at 2 pm, not 11 am. Parker Mortuary has posted it incorrectly. I am a grand daughter.
