(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Konrad David Nelson, 63, of Joplin, Missouri departed this life on November 12, 2021 after a courageous 11-month battle with Lung Cancer. Born January 16, 1958 in Jamaica, Queens, New York to Walter and Pauline (Merle) Nelson. He married Nola Seay on April 24, 1982 in Honolulu, HI.
Konrad was a Disabled Veteran, serving with the US Army from 1979 until 1984. He continued his Government service as a Certified Pharmacy Technician from 1984 until his retirement in 2014 with the Veterans Administration. He worked at St. Alban’s VAECC in St. Alban’s New York, Brooklyn VA in New York and the Gene Taylor OPC in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Nola (Chris) Nelson of the home and special cousin, Danny. Two sons, Jeremy Nelson and Jacob Nelson, both of Joplin. One daughter, Hannah Krueger and husband Richard, of Collinsville, Illinois. Seven grandchildren – Hunter Goff, Zayne Goff, Tesla Krueger, and Juniper (JuJu) Krueger all of Collinsville, Illinois. Brayden Nelson, Joplin, Ava Nelson, Carthage, Addilyn Brown-Nelson, Joplin. Sister Emlily Nutter (Nelson) of Salem, New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Frieda Merle, Konrad and Helga Nelsen. Parents, Walter and Pauline Nelson and brother Robert Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Solace House of the Ozarks in care of the mortuary.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
