Bob Dykens

Charles Robert “Bob” Dykens, age 62, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2014 after a short illness.

Bob was born on February 18, 1952 in Joplin, to Charles and Muriel Dykens. He married Bobbie Rand on May 26, 1972 and graduated from PSU with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology. Bob taught in the Lockwood and Joplin School Districts and later spent several years as an independent contractor. He retired as the Right of Way Manager from the Missouri Department of Transportation in 2007. Bob was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church in Neosho, Missouri.

God had blessed Bob with an infinite number of talents and skills. His family teasingly referred to him as “McGyver”, and relied on him for instruction in fixing anything and everything. He was always working on a project or hobby that varied from car restoration, farming, remodeling, painting landscapes, traveling, woodworking, writing, hunting and fishing, pulling mules, and wagon building to relaxing in the recliner watching westerns with his beloved Yorkies. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed the game from the perspective of player, coach, and instructor. Nothing was more rewarding than developing his son’s skills and love for the game. His true passions were spending time with his family, his relationship with God, and sharing his life with his wife of 42 years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cassie Nichole, a son, Joshua Robert, his parents, and a nephew, Travis Dykens. Survivors include his wife, daughter, Christina Clark and husband, Chad, of Clarksville, Tennessee, son, Eli Dykens of Branson, Missouri, and daughter Hannah Haase and husband, Nathan, of Kansas City, Missouri; and grandson Shad Clark; and brothers Raymond and Jim Dykens.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Prairie Flower Bible Church in Webb City. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hedge Lewis Funeral Home in Webb City. Burial will be at Weaver Cemetery in Oronogo, Missouri.
