Marguerite Louise LaFevers, age 95, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Marguerite was born November 01, 1918 to the late Oliver and Christine Venn Fithian in Nash, Oklahoma. She graduated from Enid Business College in Enid, OK. She worked as a secretary for many businesses around the Joplin area and then later worked in the cafeteria for the Joplin R-8 School District. She was a faithful member of the Joplin Missionary Baptist Church.
Marguerite married Gernald G.W. "Jerry" LaFevers on September 15, 1956 in Hillsboro, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1999. In addition to her parents, she also is preceded in death by one child, G.W. LaFevers; one brother, Oliver Fithian Jr. and her sister, Fae Biby.
Survivors include two daughters, Lanita Youngblood and husband Lloyd of Diamond, MO, Deanna Woolsey and husband Joe of Joplin; 5 grandchildren, Abby Kittrel, Larry Eden, Chris Eden, Shannon Hendricks and Allen Youngblood; 17 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Ozark Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, MO. Family visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 - 1:45 PM, then leaving for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in care of the mortuary.
Services are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
