Artie E. Trombley, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at 8:46 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at National Healthcare following a three month illness. Artie was born February 8, 1925 in Joplin, Mo. to Wesley and Blanche (Munger) England, who preceded her in death. She was a lifetime Joplin resident. She worked several years for Howsmon’s Office Supply in Joplin. She had also worked as a cook for the Joplin Woman’s Club, and worked in the Physical Therapy Dept. for St. John’s Hospital. Artie was a member of the Harmony Heights Baptist Church and recently celebrated 50 years as a Christian and member of the Church.
Artie married Oliver J. Trombley January 2, 1945 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2005 following 60 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Theodore Jerry Trombley, four brothers, and two sisters. Artie was a devoted wife, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandmother. Survivors include a son, Jack Trombley and wife Jeanie, Webb City, two daughters, Linda Kelly and husband Jim, and Janice Anderson and husband Ronnie, all of Athens, Alabama, one sister, Loretta Johnson, Joplin, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews in the local area as well as in New York and Connecticut.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City with Dr. Tim Sumners, Rev. Charlie Burnett, and Rev. Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mortuary.
The Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions are requested to Harmony Heights Baptist Church in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
