Marvin Schooler

Marvin Eugene Schooler departed this life on March 14, 2014, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. He was born to Ivan R. Schooler and Cora Eunice Pugh on November 10, 1928. While in high school, Marvin was a member of Smitty's Band in Carthage, playing the saxophone. Following his graduation from Carthage Senior High School in May, 1947, Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 1st Calvary Band, Infantry Division, in Japan and received the Army of Occupation Medal Japan prior to his honorable discharge in April, 1950. Upon returning home, he married and moved his family to Kansas, then to California, returning to Carthage in 1960. He was employed by Teledyne Neosho for 21 years, retiring in 1989.

Marvin is survived by 4 children: Marva Lea (Ron) Ruhmann, Marvin Eugene (Karen) Schooler, Jr., Michael Lynn Schooler Dunker and Marla Sue (Bob) Carr, and Marilyn Benefiel; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and one grandson, Rob Carr.

Marvin will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The children will receive friends at Ulmer Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ulmer Funeral Home Wednesday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage. Pallbearers will be Marvin Schooler, Jr., Ron Ruhmann, David Wells, Paul Wells, Ronnie Wells and Chad McClurg.
