Maggie Birmingham

Margaret Mae "Maggie" Birmingham, age 89, Webb City, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

Maggie was born March 31, 1924 in Shenandoah, Iowa, daughter of the late Charles Clayton Hetzler and Octavia Aldorf Wilcox Hetzler. She spent many years in Wichita, Kansas, and after retirement, she and her husband, Thomas A. Birmingham, traveled the country, and maintained a home in Berniece, Oklahoma. They relocated to Mission, Texas where they made this their final home together. Tom preceded her in death in 2009. She returned to the Joplin area, and lived at the Foxberry Terrace, Webb City since October of 2012. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mission, Texas, and while living in Webb City attended First Christian Church of Joplin.

Maggie loved to play bridge, square dance, and had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Survivors include her son, Ron Birmingham and wife Cheryl of Valley Center, Kansas; daughter, Shirley Stachel of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Foxberry Terrace, Webb City, with Dr. Jeff Snell officiating.

Inurnment of her ashes will occur in Garden of Angels Cemetery, Mission, Texas, at a later date.
