Juanita E. Turner, age 89, of Wentworth, MO died on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Carthage Health & Rehab in Carthage, MO. Mrs. Turner was born in Wentworth, MO on Sunday, June 15, 1924. She was the daughter of Mason Oliver and Opal (Priest) Harmon. Miss Harmon married Floyd Turner on January 11, 1941, in Carthage, MO and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1971. Mrs. Turner was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church and was a well-known area cattle farmer.
Mrs. Turner was also preceded in death by one brother, Everett; three sisters, Mable Turner, Zula Williams, and Melba Georgeles; and one great-grandson, Jordan Lane Dodson.
Surviving are the following family members: her two daughters, Mary Stow and her husband, John, of Wentworth, MO and Margaret Dodson and her husband, Richard, of Wentworth, MO; four sisters, Wilma Owen of Joplin, MO, Annabell Mason of Pierce City, MO, Delores Schoen of San Francisco, CA, and Joan Harmon of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Clifford Harmon of Wentworth, MO; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Monday, March 17, 2014, beginning at 1:30 PM with Rev. Greg Turner officiating. Burial will follow at VanBuren Cemetery in Wentworth, MO.
