Lonnie Dale Michael, age 43 of Galena, KS, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, TX after a sudden heart attack. He was attending a National Paintball Tournament in Dallas.
Born January 18, 1971 in Wichita, KS, he had lived in the Galena and Joplin areas his lifetime. His working life included metal fabricating at Kim Lee in Galena, working as Lead Man for Chad the Carpenter, Inc. and working at Paintball Ridge. Paintball was a passion for Lonnie. He participated in tournaments all over the U.S. and helped design and construct the course at Paintball Ridge and Kick-N Park in Monett. He attended Camp Joy Ministries.
On June 22, 2013 he married Alyssa Rabago at Galena. She survives.
Additional survivors include five children, Blake Talley, Anthony Michael and wife Christin, Dominique Michael, Anjyl Michael, Brandon Michael, all of Joplin; two stepchildren, Hailey and Hayden Lansaw; one grandson, Tyler; his mother, Sharon Sager of Joplin; his father, Wayne Cummings of Pineville, MO; three brothers, Ira J. Perryman of Joplin, Vernon Cummings and wife Darla of Lanagan, MO, Darrin Cummings and wife Taneille of Arkansas; three sisters, Cindy Smith and husband Joe of Carterville, Michelle Powell and husband Glenn of Joplin, Sherri Denny and husband Gary of Goodman, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Lonnie in death were his stepfather, David "Mace" Leroy Perryman; two brothers, Charles and DeWayne Cummings; and a nephew, Weston Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Jeff Martin and Jeff Kingery officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lonnie D. Michael Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary. A Memorial Paintball Tournament will also be held March 30th at Paintball Ridge.
