George Bert Anglen, Jr., age 91, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital.
George was born on May 14, 1922 in El Dorado, Kansas, son of the late George B. Anglen, Sr. and Fannie Lee Hamilton Anglen. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorean Anglen and Jeanelle Anglen both of Joplin.
He has been a resident of Joplin since 1932. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1941, and attended Joplin Business College.
In 1942 he joined the United States Army where he served during World War II with the Adjutant General's Department of the 24th Infantry Division.
He returned to Joplin where he worked as an Industrial Accountant for Du Pont Company, and later Sinclair Oil Company for many years.
George was a 50 member of the Joplin Masonic Lodge #335, and the Scottish Rite Consistory of Joplin. He also enjoyed playing golf, and was a longtime member of the Schifferdecker Golf Club.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Keith Jackson officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
