Mary Lou (Helton) Sheperd, 67, passed away March 6, 2014 at her home in rural Carl Junction, Missouri following a long illness.
She was born September 24, 1946 in Canon City, Colorado to Edwin and Hettie Helton. Mary spent 29 years working for the Department of the U.S. Air Force and 15 years for the State of Missouri. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law Thurman Jones, a sister-in-law, Patricia Helton and a niece Martha Helton. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Loyal K. Sheperd; daughter, Marsha Sheperd; 6 brothers, Donald, Dean, Dennis, Gary, Darrell, and Dale Helton; and one sister, Margie Jones.
According to her wishes Mary has been taken for cremation and no services will be held. She will be interred at Fort Scott National Cemetery with her husband at a later date.
