Dennis Allen Shonk, 66 passed away at his home March 20, 2014. Dennis was born August 26, 1947 in rural Newton County to George Shonk and Stella (Spor) Shonk. He was a lifetime area resident, graduating from East Newton High School. Dennis worked for Fleming Foods for 28 years as a computer operator, and was a press operator for GTI for over 12 years. He was an active member of the OGRS Garden Railway Club and the SWMHR club. He enjoyed running his copy business.
Dennis was united in marriage to Sandra Shonk they were married 44 years she survives.
Dennis is survived by one daughter Janice Rusk and husband Dan of Jasper MO., one son Lance Shonk and wife Jessica of Sarcoxie, MO. Five grandchildren Dakota Rusk, Aaron Smith, Luke Shonk, Brian Smith and Avery Shonk. One sister Doris Riggs of Valley Center, Kansas. One sister-in –law Maxine Caywood of AZ.
Dennis is preceded by his parents and one brother Fred Caywood. Dennis will be missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 29, 2014 at the Mt Moriah Church. Contributions can be made to Like Elijah Ministries in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
