James Edwin Spurgin, age 56, Racine, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
James was born August 15, 1957 in Racine, son of the late Robert Spurgin and Ada McReynolds Spurgin. He attended school there, and has lived in the Racine area all of his life. He was known for his unique birdhouses that he enjoyed building, and sharing with others. He was also a member of the Racine Baptist Church.
Survivors include his brothers, Richard Spurgin of Diamond, Missouri, and Mike Spurgin of Neosho, Missouri; a sister, Patty Volz and husband Robert also of Diamond; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Racine Lighthouse Church with Kelly Sampson and Melvin Stapp officiating. Inurnment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Burkhart Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
