Bob Clement

Robert L. ‘Bob’ Clement, age 88, Joplin, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his residence.

Bob was born January 1, 1926 in rural Newton County, Missouri to the late Hulme Earl Clement and Gurtha Hensley Clement.

Bob graduated from Neosho High School in 1944 and received an Industrial Education Certificate in welding from Franklin Technical School. He worked for Spencer Chemical/Gulf Oil for 20 years and later for Empire District Electric Company for 21 years. Following retirement, he and his wife owned and operated a mobile home park East of Joplin for several years.

He was a member of College Heights Christian Church and Webb City Masonic Lodge #512, AF & AM. Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II.

Bob is survived by his wife, Erma G. Mahaffey, married on June 15, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas.

Additional survivors include his children, Richard Lee Clement and his wife, Patricia, Paducah, Kentucky, Kenneth Clement and his wife, Judi, Florida, Gayla Lang and her husband, Patrick, Wichita, Kansas; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Charles and Earl Clement.

Services are planned for Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. B.A. Austin, minister, and members of Webb City Lodge #512 will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until service time at the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
