Joseph Fredrick "Little Joe" McNeely, Jr., age 54, Joplin, formerly of Jasper, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Landmark Hospital.
Joe was born December 5, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of the late Joseph F. McNeely and Mary Adams McNeely of Joplin. He grew up in Kansas City and attended school there before moving to Carthage, Missouri as a child. He then moved to Jasper in 1983 where he enjoyed the friends he made in this community. He was known for bringing a smile to people's faces. He was always smoking his pipe, wearing his overalls and bucket cap or beanie, and visiting with anyone he encountered, especially at the bank and local nursing home.
He enjoyed his time on this earth, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Mary, of Joplin; brothers, Kevin McNeely and wife Larita of Jasper, Stephen McNeely of Joplin, Travis McNeely of Webb City, and Martin McNeely of Prior, Oklahoma; aunt Kay and husband Ron, aunt Gloria and husband Kenny, and uncle Jim; several cousins and other family members, and many friends.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church with family and friends officiating.
Inurnment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Hume, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service with food and fellowship.
