Peggy Lynn deLaunay, age 56 of Joplin, passed away at 2:26 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Joplin, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 2, 1958 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Paul Robertson and Charlene Mitchell Robertson and was a lifetime Joplin resident. A 1976 graduate of Parkwood High School, she received her Associate Degree from MSSU. Peggy was a Christian. She worked for TECI and formerly for Teledyne in Neosho. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved to travel with her sister.
Survivors include her son, Evan Bickford and Lupe Oviedo of Joplin; her daughter, Mallory deLaunay of Joplin; two grandchildren, Carter Bickford and Ayla deLaunay, both of Joplin; her mother, Charlene Robertson and husband Ralph Sparks of Joplin; her sister, Cyndy Giebler and husband Brian of Joplin; two nieces, Ashley Thomason and husband Cory of Collierville, TN, Bethany Belden and Isaiah of Joplin; great-nieces, Katie Thomason, Claire Thomason and Bernadette Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Parker Chapel with Brian Giebler, minister officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary. In honor of her love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to Joplin Humane Society, in care of the mortuary.
