Mrs. Ellen “Addie” Payton, 84, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at her residence after months of declining health.
Addie entered this life on March 24, 1932, in Noel, Missouri, daughter of the late William Alvin and Maude (McNabney) Lancaster. On April 11, 1949, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Carl Alvin Payton, Sr. and together they shared forty-eight years before his passing on July 14, 1997. They resided thirty-one years in Kansas City, Missouri, before purchasing their farm near Lanagan in 1978. She was a devoted homemaker and helpmate to her husband throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Payton, Sr.; a son, Carl Payton, Jr.; a sister, Louise Shingleton; and three brothers, Melvin, Robert and Corky Lancaster.
Addie is survived by her two daughters, Marie Smith and husband, Ralph, of Anderson and Jackie Mick and husband, Roger, of Kearney, Missouri; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Barbara Jean Middleton of Independence, Kansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.
