Max Wayne Poe, age 60 of Joplin, Mo. passed away early Friday, September 30, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Max was born on June 21, 1956 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of the late William A. Poe and Emma (Speake) Scheid. He proudly served his country as part of the U.S. Army. Following his service, Max moved to the area and worked many jobs, finishing his career as a machine operator for Jasper Products before his illness forced him to retire earlier this year. He was an avid Professional Wrestling fan and loved eagles and spending time with his family.
He married Alice Weston on December 3, 1976, she survives. Additional survivors include a daughter; Carrie Dixson and husband Tony of Carl Junction, Mo., one brother; William Poe II of Shawnee Mission, Ks., one sister; Patricia O’Rourke of Blue Springs, Mo., and two granddaughters; Alicia Dixson and Cathleen Dixson of Carl Junction.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 at Forest Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
