Ernie Brown

William (Ernest) Brown Webb City Mo. passed away on Friday September 16th at his home in Webb City. 

Ernie was born August 17th 1936 on his parents' farm in Greenwood. He was the youngest of five children of Charles and Etta Brown. Ernie was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Fern Richards, Blanche Banta, Katherine Brown, Jack Brown and Dan Brown. He graduated high school in 1954 at Seneca High School in Seneca Mo. He became a Jehovah's Witness in 1973. He was a plumber for Stanley Plumbing for eleven years. He then worked for BF Goodrich as a pipe fitter for twenty-one years until the plant closed. He then invested in a Mac tool business for the next seven years until he went to work for the Joplin R-8 school system as head of its maintenance department where he then retired in 2000. Ernie was a fan of old time country music and he played the steel guitar which he still had the same one from his younger years. He played on the radio at age twelve and he later won a talent contest at Galena High School. 

Ernie married his wife of 60 years on August 11 1956 Phyllis Sweet of Galena KS. In Miami Oklahoma. They had three Children two boys and one girl, Steven Brown and his wife Pamela, Doug Brown and Cindy Brown; seven grandchildren Kristal Slaughter, Karli Engelage and her husband Blake, Kyler Baker, Zachary Brown and his wife Lydia, Spencer Brown, Chastin Brown and his wife Candice, Chelsey Steverson and her husband Jonathon; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Ernie was a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa and he loved his family very much until the end. Ernie will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday September 22, 2016 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
