Sammie Ira Kimerer, Jr., age 73 of Joplin, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.
Sammie was born February 18, 1943 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Sammie I. Kimerer, Sr. and Ruth Bryant Kimerer. He graduated from Joplin High School and attended trade school. Sammie was a gifted wood smith, working for Ft. Leavenworth in Kansas. He also loved to teach his trade to anyone willing to listen.
Surviving Sammie include four sons, Kenny Kimerer and wife, Stacy of Miami, Oklahoma, Charles Kimerer of Joplin, Jay Kimerer and wife, Chris of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Kevin Kimerer and wife, Danielle of Osawatomie, Kansas; sister, Nina Johnson of Lone Star, Texas; grandchildren, Cody, Jacklyn and Eloise Kimerer; plus many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Other than his parents, Sammie is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ashley.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Osborne Cemetery, Joplin. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Sammie's dog, Jack, memorial contributions can be made to Miami Animal Alliance in care of the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
