Alvy Linn Wilson, age 74 of Joplin, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at 12:20 p.m. at his home surrounded by family, following a 15 year battle of different illnesses.
Alvy was born August 15, 1942 in Albion, Michigan to the late Linn Fay Wilson and Vedra Viola Standsbury. After graduating high school, he immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force. Alvy was a machinist for companies such as Sperry Vickers, Able Body and Ozark Machinery. He loved the outdoors, including fishing and hunting. Alvy was a part of the United Pentecostal Church.
On September 24, 1962, Alvy married Donna L. Black in Joplin, she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include three sons, Dennis K. Wilson and wife, Cindy of California, Stacy A. Wilson and wife, Heather of Webb City, Todd L. Wilson and wife, Lydia of Joplin; daughter, Jenny L. Wilson-Staggs and husband, Jeffery of Joplin; brother, Gary D. Wilson and wife, Sherry of Eagle Rock, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Alvy is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Sue Wilson and two grandchildren, Mark A. and Amy A. Wilson.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
