L. E. Martin

Lewis ‘Toots’ Eugene Martin, 92, Nixa, Missouri, formerly of Neosho, died Sept. 19, 2016 at his home, following an illness. 

 L. E. was born Jan. 24, 1924 in Wetunka, Oklahoma, the son of Cleveland H. and Sarah A. (Burdick) Martin. He moved to Neosho as a young child and was a lifelong area resident and had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He owned and operated L. E. Martin Transfer and Storage and then owned the Crowder Flea Market. He loved children and enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. He was of the Baptist faith.

 L.E. and Vera Kee were married on Jan. 11, 1949 in Neosho and she survives. Additional survivors include six children, Debbie Barclay and husband, David of Arkansas City, Kansas; Dale Martin and wife, Mary of Joplin; Dixie Sparks and husband, Doug of Neosho; David G. Martin and wife, Barbara of Carthage; Deanna Martin of Nixa and Dewane Martin and wife, Jerri of Neosho; one brother, Raymond Martin of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one sister, Mary Sherman of San Antonio, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Marie and twelve siblings. 

 Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
