Betty J. Bell, age 90, Joplin, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2016 at her home after a short illness.
Betty was born September 15, 1925 in Joplin to the late Levi Warren Zumwalt and Thelma Lucille Phillips Zumwalt and was a lifelong Joplin resident.
She was a 1943 graduate of Joplin High School and was active with women's bowling leagues for forty years. Betty was a homemaker.
She married Ramon Hall 'Ray' Bell on January 23, 1947 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2016.
Betty was also preceded by a sister, Irene Zumwalt in 2011 and a brother, Dale Zumwalt in 2006.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Bell and his wife, Nancy, Joplin, Michael Bell and his wife, Laura, Topeka, Kansas, Biff Bell and his wife, Kim, Joplin; grandchildren, Brent Bell and Jeff Bell; great grandson, Liam Bell; step granddaughter, Meagan Harmon and her husband, Landon; step great grandchildren, Jake Hardy, Klaire Hardy, Bentley Harmon, Cresslee Harmon; niece, Barbara McClelland; nephew, Doug Bell; and several other extended family members.
Cryptside services are planned for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Randy Bell, Mike Bell, Biff Bell, Brent Bell, Jeff Bell and Liam Bell. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Joplin Elk's Christmas Basket Program, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
