Bertie Wahlstrom

Bertie Lorraine McNally Wahlstrom, age 98 of Joplin, went to her heavenly home on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 9:05 a.m. at Wildwood Ranch following an extended illness.

Bertie was born February 24, 1918 in Webb City, Missouri to the late Oren Hensley and Wynona Simington Hensley, the oldest of 11 siblings. On June 1, 1957, she married Harry L. Wahlstrom in Webb City and then moved to Seaside, Oregon. During that time she worked for Dr. Russell Lende as his office secretary. In 1995, Harry passed away and she was ready to come back home to Joplin. Bertie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Seaside, Oregon.

Surviving Bertie are two sons, Dick McNally and wife, Janet of Joplin and Mike McNally and wife, Lou of Portland, Oregon; sisters, Ruth Hanson and Shirley Brown, both of California.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bertie was preceded in death by a son, John Stephen McNally and 14 siblings.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Joplin with Dr. Dave Burgess, officiating.

The family would like to thank Donna Fuller, Wendy Garrison, a dear grandchild, Stacey Barton, Tobey Boatright and the staff of Wildwood Ranch for all the wonderful care they have given Bertie over the past few years.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
