Evelyn L. Crappel, 67, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Evelyn was born on October 26, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama, and was adopted into the family of the late James and Lottie Richard. She attended school in New Orleans, Louisiana, and she also traveled frequently to Mississippi to visit family before moving to Missouri in 1995. Evelyn was a cook for Sarcoxie Nursing Center and the Sarcoxie Senior Center. She married Donald R. Winstead and he preceded her in death. She later married her husband, Aubrey Crappel, in 1979 and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2008. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting, bowling, playing cards, crab boils and barbeques as well as family gatherings. She was a member of the Freedom Christian Fellowship Church in of Sarcoxie.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Earl Crappel; a daughter, Sharon Miller; and a sister, Lou Jenkins.
Survivors include six children, Donald Winstead, of Joplin, Lawrence Winstead, Sr., and wife, Debbie, of Abita Springs, Lousiana, Michelle Thompson and husband, Wayne, Mary Redmond and husband, Mark, David Crappel and Brenda Crappel, all of Sarcoxie, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and a brother, James Huett, of Benton, Arkansas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crappel are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Don Sullivan and Lorraine Peckham officiating.
